Airavat Picture House is a 40-seater micro cinema theatre operated by Docskool. Located in Thapathali (near Prasuti Griha) the cinema serves Kathmandu and Patan with easy access to both.

The micro cinema is part of Docskool’s ongoing efforts to increase visibility of local documentary cinema and young filmmakers who have little avenue to showcase projects. The cinema programs select films for week long screenings held in the evenings.Thereisno time limitation for films shown, usual screening programs last for 75 mins – 90 mins. A micro cinema is an alternative cinema venue showing films not available at mainstream cinema theaters. Airavat Picture house shows films through license from filmmakers to a select group of members and artists. Airavat picture house is a non profit cinema screen.

The film centre is now part of Airavat Picture house. It offers access to several film resources that amateur and young filmmakers might find helpful. All resources are accessed through membership of Airavat Picture house.

Airavat Picture House maintains one of the largest selection of film reading materials in Nepal. All books can be accessed through the membership. Following resources are available at the centre

Membership

Airavat Picture house is a membership-based cinema. To access our screenings, please get a membership that suits you best.

  • Year long access to screenings at Airavat and discount on festival passes and workshops.
  • Full members can use the cinema for personal viewing of film from the library.(for group viewing, limited price will be applicable)
  • Access to Docskool’s library of books on film, DVD collection and Docskool festival archive.
  • 50% discount to use certain A/V equipments and editing setups available at Docskool.
  • Annual fee for Full Membership is NRs. 3000
  • Free access to screenings at Airavat year round.
  • Access to Docskool’s library.
  • 2free usage of micro cinema venue.
  • 25% discount on rental of micro cinema venue.
  • Individual Membership Fee is Rs.1500
  • Access to all benefits of ‘Individual Membership+1’. (The beneficiary must be mentioned beforehand.)
  • Family Membership Fee is Rs. 2000

Students currently pursuing film, media, art & design will pay Rs.2250 for full membership. A copy of valid student ID is required during application.

  • Membership is for a period of 12 months. Membership is non transferable.
  • Membership fee is fixed and will not be negotiated.
  • Seating to the cinema is based on seat availability.
  • Equipments provided are on loan against a deposit. Members receive 50% discount on all equipment rental.
  • Members are provided 25%discount on rental fees to use Airavat Picture House.
  • Books from the library may not be borrowed, but photocopying is possible.
  • Members should provide their membership cards to access the facilities.
