7 Fellows join the Green Media Program

The 2027 ‘Green Media Fellowship’ is delighted to welcome seven new fellows to the 2026-2027 fellowship program. This year, over 90 applicants from across Nepal and India applied for Docskool’s annual green media fellowship (GMF). First held in 2021 as a visual media fellowship, the six month training cum field site training program provides site-specific documentary-making and production skills to young environmental defenders.

With Nepal facing existential ecological challenges, media representation is crucial from the ground up. The program’s inclination is to train grassroots environment defenders to better document changes and manage existing traditional and indigenous knowledge systems. Docskool’s green media fellowship is held at the ‘Farm Campus’ in Dhulikhel, providing direct access to exposure to impact-based engagement on agroecology, biodiversity conservation, wildlife documentation, among others.

The fellows for 2027 come from all walks of life – with considerable experience working with communities and through skill sets often using media in their work. Partners for the 2027 Green Media fellowship include Radio Udayapur, Bird Conservation Nepal and Welthungerhilfe (WHH). Each year the program invites an equal number of fellows and community-based partner organisations to enrich a strong knowledge-sharing experience. The fellowship acts as a production platform for agencies that need production support to produce visual productions as photo and video projects.
