Queer Film Festival Kathmandu ’24

6 – 9 December,२१ – २४ मंसिर २०८१

Welcome to Nepal’s first home-brewed Queer Film Festival. Kathmandu’s – a window into the rainbow-colored world of LGBTQIA+ stories and non binary expressions.

We are delighted to announce a vibrant mix of 46 feature documentaries/ fiction films, shorts, and multimedia projects in 4 days at two venues.

Catch the festival at Yalamaya Kendra, Patan and Kathmandu Film Center, Docskool, Thapathali, QFK proposes a platform for exchange of ideas and celebration of queer expression not confined by heteronormative discourse.

Also join free festival screenings and satellite event at Hard Rock Cafe (Durbar Marg), Roxy and Smog (Baneswore), Pink Tiffany Restaurant and Bar (Thamel), Rainbow Cafe & Restaurant (Sorhakhutte).

Attend the “इन्द्रेणी हटिया” Queer art + Market place on 7th Dec. at Yalamaya. The market will present a selected mix of performances, art works among others.

As a festival QFK fosters a platform to share and explore, providing recognition to systemically disadvantaged LGBTQIA+ voices. We are open for films made in the remotest of productions to feature projects which dismantle, raise a voice on contemporary queer culture.

QFK takes inspiration from several queer cinema programming’s by Docskool over the years. Its current shape took form through a joint consensus amongst Queer activists, filmmakers at the 2023 ‘Something Like a Film Festival’, that proposed for an independent Queer film festival i Kathmandu.

Join the QFFK movement! Experience powerful films, engage in lively discussions. As believers of cinema’s passionate touch to spark meaningful dialogues, to celebrate, rejoice and punctuate key questions when needed – the festival is here to re-imagine existing queer spaces in the city.

Queer Film Festival Kathmandu is hosted by Docskool (Documentary Open School). The festival has been made possible in part with support from Movies that Matter.
