Documentary Open School

About Us

Docskool founding group 2008

Docskool is a non profit, informal group of film, media workers created in 2008. Docskool was born out of a workshop bringing 15 young people who felt cinema in Nepal could be more accessible to them. Docskool has since prioritised working with cinema for groups on the fringe due to several social conditions. We work closely with mid career film professionals and community media creators.

Docskool acts as a bridge connecting experiences and networks to support young media makers. Workshops, trainings, residencies and festivals are hosted to bridge. We align our work with campaigns including the feminist movement, LGBTQIA+ Queer movement, land rights movement and Climate activism.

Docskool’s South Asia initiatives bring filmmakers across borders since 2014 to forge closer understanding of the social, political challenges and coping mechanisms within the region.

Please visit individual pages or write to us for further information. We are very keen on innovative first time projects and open to anything concerning visual media. Please feel free to write. Docskool is registered with the Social welfare council of Nepal.
