Documentary Open School

Community Media Center

Docskool’s community media center provides year round engagement for those looking to explore visual media in remote communities. Located 45 kms outside Kathmandu, the media center is essentially a DIY studio capable of running diverse programs as per need.

It is home to all our residencies and long stay programs. The facility is managed as a regenerative farm with sustainable agriculture patches and a small flock of poultry and sheep. Located along the boundaries of the magnificent Kapileswore Community Forest, the center is ideally placed for our climate fellowships, and eco conscious media projects.

The center provides residential facilities for small groups and can be rented if need be.

The Campus

Kapileswore Biosphere Reserve

Sprawling across Dhulikhel and Namobuddha, Kapileswore Community Forest is  sub-tropical  biodiversity reservoir representing mid hilly  vegetation and fauna of Nepal. It is one of early sites of Nepal’s community forest projects launched as cohabitation encouraging programs in early 1990’s.  Community forests owned and operated by local community are largest contributor of carbon reduction in Nepal.

Docskool’s farm campus is envisioned as a living forest as we plant more trees each year.
